A mosaic of natural environments

An exceptional biodiversity

A nature walk not to be missed

A protected and enhanced site

Located in Saint-Georges-sur-Arnon, a few kilometers away from Issoudun, the Presle marsh is a remarkable natural site that is the pride of the region. Classified as a Natura 2000 zone for its ecological richness, it offers a true haven of peace for nature lovers and botany enthusiasts.

The Presle marsh is a preserved space where several ecosystems coexist harmoniously:

  • Marshes and wetlands: true reservoirs of biodiversity, they are home to specific flora, adapted to waterlogged soils.

  • Peat bogs: these rare and fragile environments are home to remarkable plants, such as sphagnum mosses and wild orchids.

  • River and riparian forest: the presence of the Arnon encourages the development of lush vegetation on the banks.

  • Dry grasslands and hillsides: in contrast to the wetlands, these areas offer an exceptional panorama of the valley and feature more resistant and sparse vegetation.

The Presle Marsh is a true refuge for many animal and plant species. It is home to:

  • Wetland birds, such as the marsh harrier or the water rail.

  • Amphibians such as the green tree frog and the palmate newt.

  • A varied flora with rare species, including several varieties of orchids and carnivorous plants such as the sundew.

The site is accessible to visitors via landscaped trails that allow visitors to explore the various environments without disturbing the ecosystems. The best time to visit is between May and August, when biodiversity is at its peak and the blooms offer a colorful spectacle.

Take advantage of this getaway to observe nature in peace, take photos and recharge your batteries in the heart of a unique environment.

To preserve this exceptional natural heritage, conservation efforts are regularly carried out to maintain environmental balance and protect sensitive species. The Presle Marsh embodies the local desire to preserve biodiversity while allowing the public to discover this natural treasure.
